Liverpool are looking to replace Raheem Sterling with Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev after the Reds made a £22million bid for the Russian international, according to the Mirror.

The news broke yesterday that a fee of £49million for Sterling had been agree with Manchester City and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is wasting no time in finding someone to fill in the gap.

Cheryshev is seen as "surplus" at the Bernabeu and at 24 is far passed the label of "someone with a lot of potential". New Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has a huge array of talent at his disposal and it is unlikely that Cheryshev will get any game time next season.

The Russian international has already made a seven appearances for his national team and spent the last two seasons on loan at Sevilla and Villarreal respectively.

He only made four appearances for Sevilla but played 24 times for Villarreal last season, who they are understood to be looking to bring him back permanently.

Cheryshev made 109 appearances for Real Madrid B between 2009 and 2013, scoring 22 times but is yet to make a first team appearance for the 2014 Champions League Winners.

However the question remains: is Denis Cheryshev worth £22million? according to a survey taken by football fans 80% of the people surveyed say that he isn't.
