Standard Chartered bank will be paying £84 million pounds ($140 million) over four years from July 2010 to appear on Liverpool shirts. That matches the deal Manchester United have signed with Aon, who are replacing the insurance giant AIG from the beginning of next season. Standard Chartered, which is listed on both the London and Hong Kong stock exchanges, wanted to sponsor United before the Premier League champions completed a deal in June with Aon, the Chicago-base insurance broker.
