Target: Liverpool are interested in Eden Hazard

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson watched Lille's Eden Hazard and Gervinho impress as they recorded a 2-1 win over Monaco on Sunday night.

Hodgson was at the Stade Lille-Metropole with Laurent Viaud, one of Liverpool's French scouts, as Lille went top of the French league with long-time target Hazard outstanding.

Ivory Coast international Gervinho, who has been watched by Tottenham, has had an impressive start to the season but Hazard is looking to leave this season with Arsenal and Manchester United among his British admirers.

At the end of the game, when Hodgson was asked if he was following Gervinho, he simply stated that the Ivoirian was not the only good player on the field.

Liverpool, who have also been linked with former Newcastle midfielder Emre, 30, have confirmed that highly-rated Spanish striker Fernandez Suso, 17, has signed his first professional contract with the club until 2013.

Suso, who can also play in midfield, has been coveted by Barcelona and Real Madrid.
