The Lyon goal machine has been linked with numerous Premier League clubs and was widely tipped to join The Reds in January, a deal that failed to materialise in the end. The scouts it seems are keeping an eye on the in-form striker to ensure that business is done in the summer to bring the player to Anfield.

The report states that Brendan Rodgers’ interest in the 23-year-old is confirmed by French Football guru Julien Laurens, who told BT Sport that Liverpool ‘really like him’.

The young forward has been at Lyon since the start of his senior career in 2010 and made his debut for the French national team in 2013. With 25 goals in just 29 appearances this season so far it is easy to see why the player viewed as a special talent in Anfield and at the Emirates.

The players value has rocketed since 2014 with current estimates rating the player at 17.6million with a minute/goal ratio of 101. Liverpool have suffered with the injury to Sturridge and the sale of Suarez to Barca.

Mario Balotelli, who was due to fill in at least partly for the loss of Suarez has struggled with his form and scored just one goal in the Premier League this season. A further strengthening of their front-line could make them serious contenders again next season.
