Yossi Benayoun celebrates his goal against Sunderland[LNB]YOSSI BENAYOUN smiles broadly as he recalls the frenzied, manic scenes that greeted what should have been the most significant goal of his Liverpool career.[LNB]Though Benayoun has achieved the rare feat of scoring hat-tricks in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup for the Reds - and netted the winner in the Bernabeu Stadium - his strike at Fulham last season, in terms of drama, will take some surpassing.[LNB]That effort, deep in injury time, of course, was the moment many thought Liverpool had taken control of the title race and the celebrations inside Craven Cottage that balmy April evening suggested, at long last, the trophy craved most of all was coming home.[LNB]So elated were the travelling supporters they refused to leave the quaint little ground on the banks of the teams, telling anyone who cared to listen that now was the time to believe as Rafa Benitez's men were 'going to win the league'.[LNB]Sadly, those feelings of euphoria barely lasted 24 hours; Federico Macheda's late, late show at Old Trafford the day after swung the pendulum back in Manchester United's favour and enabled them to keep Liverpool at arms length on the run-in.[LNB]But as he prepares to return to Fulham for the first time since that dramatic finale, Benayoun is quick to point out Liverpool are as desperate for the three points tomorrow as they were back in the spring.[LNB]True, the revelry will not be on the same scale but if Benitez and Company are going to manoeuvre themselves into a position to challenge for top spot, a similar result is required to build on the impetus of last week's knocking down of United.[LNB]'I hope we do it earlier this time,' Benayoun said with a wry smile.[LNB]'But if we are going to do that, we'll have to work as hard as we did against United. We knew we were under pressure but we spoke between ourselves and hoped our quality would come through.[LNB]'To be in the situation that we were after winning at Fulham last season, we have got to work hard. But if we keep playing as a team and showing our quality, we can keep giving something back to the supporters.
