Liverpool FC's Fabio Aurelio looks for a rurnaround in fortunes against Wolves[LNB]LIVERPOOL victories on Boxing Day are as common as shops starting sales and cold turkey sandwiches - but this year nothing should be taken for granted.[LNB]Cast a glance at some of the results the Reds have enjoyed during this decade and you will see they have helped extend the feel-good factor of supporters, with performances that have brought a raft of goals as well as three points.[LNB]Bolton Wanderers have been swatted aside twice at Anfield, Aston Villa were flattened during the cam-paign which ended in Gerard Houllier's side finishing second to Arsenal, while Rafa Benitez's first experience of Christmas football saw Liverpool thrash West Brom 5-0.[LNB]The only blip came at Ewood Park three years ago but even then Liverpool fashioned enough opportunities to beat Blackburn Rovers out of sight; fast forward to today, though, and many will head to Anfield in trepidation rather than giddy anticipation.[LNB]Having had a week to stew on such a dreadful performance at Portsmouth, one that has left Liverpool frantically trying to stay in the race for a Champions League place, an emphatic response is required this evening against Wolverhampton Wanderers.[LNB]Those who enjoy a flutter will, in probability, have a Liverpool home win down as the last leg of a festive accumulator that will kick-off with Kauto Star in the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park, but recent form will inevitably lead many to think twice.[LNB]Lacking self-belief and desperate for a lift, how Rafa Benitez could do with seeing his side take three points off Wolves with a display packed full of style and flair, to ease the pressure which has been building and placate a crowd that is becoming increasingly irritable.[LNB]For Fabio Aurelio, though, any kind of win will do; of course, it would be nice if Liverpool served up one of their very best efforts but reality dictates this contest will be much more complicated, as especially as Wolves will be keenly scrutinised.[LNB]After Mick McCarthy made wholesale changes to his team at Old Trafford, can he afford to do the same at another famous ground? Whatever, Liverpool - as Aurelio points out - need to focus on themselves and regroup before it is too late.[LNB]'We are not used to this kind of situation and maybe because of that it has been harder to get confidence back,' said Aurelio. 'We have been lacking confidence and we are anxious to get it back to the levels they were at early in the season.[LNB]'The situation is bad at the minute and we are not as positive as we should be but we can't think about that any longer. We have to got to put the last couple of months behind us and turn the situation around.[LNB]'The second half of the season is still to come and we have got a lot of important games to play, starting against Wolver-hampton. All that matters is to get three points. It doesn't matter if we play good or bad, we just need a win.[LNB]'I know it seems like we have been saying it for quite a while but we are certain that if we get two or three good results built up, you will see the team responding in a very different way; that's why we have got to win these next games against Wolves and Aston Villa.'[LNB]Or, to put it another way, they need to take three points to go to Villa Park in some fit shape to throw down a challenge to a side that, with each passing week, is giving the impression it could muscle its way into the top four.
