Liverpool FC sweat on Fernando Torres injury news

Fernando Torres[LNB]LIVERPOOL are sweating over the fitness of Fernando Torres.[LNB]Early tests on his problematic knee in Barcelona yesterday proved inconclusive.[LNB]The striker will remain in Spain for the next few days where he will receive further treatment from specialist Ramon Cugat.[LNB]Only then will the club find out the full extent of his injury and what impact it will have on the run-in to the campaign.[LNB]A brief statement released by Liverpool last night said: 'Fernando Torres was examined by a knee specialist this afternoon in Spain.[LNB]'He received treatment and will continue to do so over the next few days, with the injury being reassessed later this week.'[LNB]Torres missed Sunday's goalless draw with Fulham that has cast huge doubt over Liverpool's credentials to claim the fourth and final Champions League place.[LNB]Despite creating a host of chances the Reds struggled to find the back of the net without their top scorer.[LNB]Manager Rafa Benitez will be eager for news on his star striker.[LNB]Liverpool face West Ham in the Premier League next Monday, three days before the first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Torres' former club Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital.
