Liverpool FC legends warn new owners will face battle to win over Reds supporters

A HOST of Liverpool legends today warned the club's new prospective owners that they face a big challenge winning over long-suffering supporters.[LNB]A £300million deal has been agreed to sell the Reds to New England Sports Ventures (NESV) but Tom Hicks and George Gillett have launched legal action to try to block the takeover.[LNB]The case is likely to be heard in court next week and Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton is confident the sale will go through.[LNB] Former Reds striker John Aldridge welcomed the dramatic developments but insists if NESV are handed the keys to Anfield they will have many questions to answer.[LNB]'The feeling is one of extreme caution,' he said.[LNB]'The ball is finally moving and it's great to see the panic in the camp of Hicks and Gillett.[LNB]'It wasn't long ago that Hicks was boasting he was going to make more out of Liverpool than any other deal and now it looks like he'll make a loss. I'll be over the moon if that happens.[LNB]'You get a bit paranoid because of the experience we've had with Americans before but we will have to wait and see what New England Sports Ventures have to say.[LNB]'Liverpool fans have had to put up with so many lies in recent years that they are sceptical about everything.[LNB]'The new owners need to be honest with fans and do just about everything differently.[LNB]'I'd love them to offer 10% of the club back to the fans.[LNB]'That's something Share Liverpool and Spirit of Shankly have been pushing for and it's a great idea.[LNB]'It would be the perfect way to win over supporters and prove they care about them.'
