Liverpool FC jury: Reds fans give their view on the Aston Villa romp

Paul O'Leary[LNB]AN excellent performance was witnessed by those at Anfield and watching at home on Monday night which saw our former Commander-in-Chief return to his former beloved home.[LNB]It was only right that he received a rapturous return, his tenure did not finish well but he undoubtedly shaped LFC moving into a new era of football.[LNB]Equally undoubted is that we are improving under Roy Hodgson.[LNB] It is pleasing to see our play including so much short, intricate passing.[LNB]This suits players such as Maxi and Meireles who have performed well in the past month.[LNB]The latter looks far more at home in the centre and should be left there.[LNB]We have some favourable fixtures coming up and while I am not suggesting we can win the title, we are just 10 points off the top; a mini run could put us right up there moving into the festive period.[LNB]Andy Collinson[LNB]IT'S no wonder Aston Villa are teetering on the brink of relegation after witnessing that Gerard Houllier-inspired rubbish on Monday night.[LNB]The Frenchman wasn't the only ghost of Christmas past haunting Anfield on Monday though, with David Ngog looking like the new Stan Collymore and Ryan Babel suddenly, bizarrely, turning into the new John Barnes, weaving among 11 frozen Christmas turkeys.[LNB]The only criticism you could have with the Villa performance was that, similar to the West Ham game, Liverpool believe in relaxing once a match is won, which would continue to account for our miserly plus-one goal difference.[LNB]Something else which is becoming apparent though, is that the Reds can play well, and win, without their star names.
