Liverpool FC jury: Fans give their view on the Reds' start to the New Year

Andy Collinson[LNB]WELL, what a weird start to the New Year![LNB]Dalglish pleading in the ECHO for no more fan support; Liverpool beating Bolton through the abandonment of the offside law; and players, past and present, trooping out to claim we've now turned more corners than an Adelphi chambermaid![LNB]The real test isn't bringing Gerrard off the bench to get a win against Bolton though; it's getting a win away from home, a task made all the more harder when it seems we simply can't score on our travels. Manchester United could create difficulties for us simply through turning-up![LNB] Obviously you've got to remain hopeful. But with a tough set of games to come rounded-off with a derby a week on Sunday, maybe the best place to look for miracles is football's January sales.[LNB]John Cruces[LNB]IT would be nice to see a transfer window pass without us having to balance the books, especially having new owners.[LNB]But should Roy Hodgson be given money to spend when his position is obviously under threat?[LNB]Even without considering the poor results that he has to take responsibility for, if we look at his most expensive signing Raul Meireles who he continues to play out wide, I'd have to say with extreme caution.[LNB]Meireles is a proven centre-midfielder whose performances are severely restricted when played out of position. Surely it's commonsense to play him in the right position? We need a striker and a natural winger at the very least. Damien Comolli was brought in to oversee such signings, so leave it to him and Dalglish.[LNB]Looking forward to Sunday's FA Cup tie at Old Trafford, Torres has rattled both Vidic and Ferdinand previously so we need to bring him into play and test their shaky back-line to progress.
