Liverpool FC fans letters: No fortress – just a hand-out shop

IT'S time to bring back Xabi Alonso, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane. They are thriving somewhere else yet could not find a place with Liverpool Football Club - for reasons known only to Rafa Benitez.[LNB]How sad to see Xabi sitting in the Main Stand watching that dreadful spectacle against Arsenal on Sunday.[LNB]LFC pay £20m for Alberto Aquilani and so far he has played 15 minutes?![LNB]Sitting on the substitutes' bench looking sad and rejected, he reminded me of Robbie Keane. What's more, Lucas got the nod ahead of him - for reasons known only to Rafa...[LNB]Incidentally, where is Neil Mellor these days?[LNB]Sean Fleming[LNB]IT is time to be brutally honest.[LNB]We won at Istanbul and Cardiff because of two special Scousers who would not accept defeat - not because of the manager. After five-and-a-half years in charge he continues to play the only midfielder in our history who can't shoot, head a ball, beat a man or tackle.[LNB]Souness, Hughes, Ray Kennedy, McDermott, McMahon, Molby, Gerrard - where would people place Lucas in this list I wonder?[LNB]The only teams we will beat are the ones we can bore to death with our ineffective possession and tactics.[LNB]Rafa's decision-making in signings and substitutions is abysmal.[LNB]Yes Torres - special; yes Reina - special.[LNB]But what about the other almost £170m?[LNB]Anfield is no longer a fortress, more like a charity hand-out shop.[LNB]Time for Rafa to go? It's well past time and too late because his legacy is mediocrity.[LNB]It takes a lot for genuine Liverpool supporters to lose heart but that's the reality and the reason Rafa has to go soon.[LNB]Len Dunning, Childwall
