Liverpool FC fans letters: Is Roy Hodgson starting to prove everyone wrong?

I have been very encouraged by our performances recently, which have consisted of certain trends. Despite the incredible amount of criticism Roy Hodgson has received - especially given the patience his two predecessors were shown - I believe there to be several signs of genuine progress under him.[LNB]With a quiet manner and minimum fuss, he is starting to stamp his own mark on a squad perceived by many to be awful when he took over.[LNB]There is greater balance between attack and defence.[LNB]Spurs was a great example where the tactics were spot-on with just the right amount of adventure.[LNB] Slowly but surely we are looking stronger at the back and off the ball.[LNB]Moreover, several players who suffered under Benitez (his signings perversely) are starting to play a lot better and it's helping the team no end.[LNB]Could this be attributed to Roy's man-management in comparison to Rafa's? I'd suggest yes.[LNB]In addition, watching us against Spurs and Villa makes it clear to me that the players are working on passing the ball in training. Some of the one-twos and triangles of passing are lovely to watch and I hope it's a sign of things to come.[LNB]With nine very winnable league fixtures to come, the return of Steven Gerrard, and a potentially successful January transfer window to come, we might just have a good season yet. Could it be that the manager who has been given the least patience in our recent history is starting to prove everyone wrong?[LNB]antonyj
