Les Lawson[LNB]LIVERPOOL FC today cautiously welcomed the prospect of new American owners at Anfield.[LNB]Reds supporters today woke to the news the club board had accepted in principle an offer to buy the club and oust much-maligned owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.[LNB]Les Lawson (pictured), secretary of the official Liverpool Supporters' Club, said the mood was one of scepticism.[LNB]He told the ECHO: "The club has been up for sale since April and all of a sudden with October 15 looming a sale has needed to be agreed.[LNB]"The fact that it's an American consortium interested leaves us a bit worried. We haven't heard what they (New England Sports Ventures) have got to say.[LNB]"It would be nice if they met fans' groups to outline their plans for our club.[LNB]"The first thing is to tell the truth, we don't want any false promises like last time. We are wary this could be out the frying pan and into the fire.[LNB]"We all hope Martin Broughton and the others have done their homework and gone with the bid which ahs the best interests of Liverpool at heart."
