Liverpool FC face volcano flight trouble for Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid

LIVERPOOL FC is considering alternative ways of travelling to Madrid for Thursday's Europa Cup semi-final because of the UK flight restrictions.[LNB]The club is in regular contact with the Football Association and UEFA as the disruptions caused by the Icelandic volcanic ash continue.[LNB]The FA is speaking to the European governing body on behalf of both the Reds and Fulham, who play Hamburg in the second semi-final.[LNB]The Anfield club has contemplated journeying to Spain, for the first leg of their fixture against Athletico Madrid, via other methods of transport.[LNB]Officials have looked at the feasibility of catching the Eurostar across to France and securing a flight in part of Europe not affected by the airspace ban.[LNB]Another alternative may be to travel to Scotland and Ireland, where some planes may be leaving, and travelling to Spain.[LNB]Liverpool have ruled out a marathon coach trip to Madrid due to the demands it would place on the players.[LNB]A Liverpool FC spokesman said: 'We are monitoring the situation closely.'[LNB]Asked about the effect the airspace ban might have on this week's European fixtures, including Champions League games, a UEFA spokesman said: 'Obviously we are aware of it.
