Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard thrilled to be able to play in Jamie Carragher's Testimonial Match[LNB]LIVERPOOL skipper Steven Gerrard has thanked England boss Fabio Capello for allowing him to be part of Jamie Carragher's 'perfect' testimonial.[LNB]The Reds midfielder was granted permission to leave the England camp following Friday night's 4-0 victory over Bulgaria at Wembley and return to Merseyside to make a brief appearance at Anfield.[LNB]Gerrard played the first 10 minutes of the 4-1 win against an Everton XI before heading back to the capital ahead of tomorrow night's Euro 2012 qualifier away to Switzerland.[LNB]The 30-year-old was delighted to be part of the celebrations for his friend's special day.[LNB] 'It was played at a decent pace and credit to Everton, they put a decent side out and everybody enjoyed themselves,' Gerrard said.[LNB]'It was important for me to be involved because I am so close to Jamie, not just as a teammate but also as a friend.[LNB]'I wanted to be there and share the occasion with him because we've played together for so long.[LNB]'The idea was to have a warm down with England on Saturday and then we were given the rest of the day off.[LNB]'So I asked for permission to fly in and out and make a little cameo, and Fabio was fine with it, but I'm sure his decision was based on beating Bulgaria 4-0 first![LNB]'I think Jamie loved the occasion. It went perfectly for him and he certainly deserves it. It's a nice way for the club to say thank you to Jamie for his service.'
