As the festive season approaches, we have put together a special online 12 days of Christmas with a Liverpool FC twist. A new installment will be online at www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/lfc  and www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/lfc  each day up to the 25th[LNB]On the eleventh day of Christmas, it is time to check out Liverpool's record wins. The biggest beating the Reds have dished out was eleven goals without reply against Norweigan side Stromsgodset in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1974. The players queued up to bang in the goals. Alec Lindsay opened the scoring after three minutes from the penalty spot. A Phil Boersma double as well as strikes from Phil Thompson and Steve Heighway made it 5-0 at the break.[LNB]The Reds did not relent in the second half as they piled more misery on their guests. Peter Cormack opened proceedings after the interval, Thompson got another, Emlyn Hughes popped up and then Tommy Smith, Ian Callaghan and Ray Kennedy all helped themselves in the last five minutes. 11 goals, nine different scorers and a fairly comfortable lead to take into the second leg - in which Liverpool could only manage to sneak a 1-0 win![LNB] Pic: Keegan and Toshack inspect the Oslo pitch before the away leg[LNB]Other notable high-scoring victories[LNB]Champions League: Liverpool 8 Besiktas 0, November 2007[LNB]In a must-win European tie, a good start is always helpful. Peter Crouch ensured that on this occasion, putting the Reds ahead after 19 minutes. Benayoun made it a 2-0 lead at the break. Any sign of second half nerves? Six goals would suggest the opposite. Liverpool went wild with Yossi completing his hat-trick before the hour mark, Gerrard getting on the scoresheet, Babel firing a late double and Crouch putting the icing on the cake.[LNB] Video: Reds rampant against Besiktas[LNB]See next page for more >>>>>>
