Liverpool eyeing deal for experienced Serie A forward

Liverpool have made contact with Serie A giants AC Milan as they move in for versatile French forward Jeremy Menez.

The former Monaco, Roma and Paris Saint-Germain player has been a Liverpool target for some time now, with the Anfield club sending scouts to watch Menez on numerous occasions last season.

And now, the Daily Express report that the Reds have initiated transfer talks with Milan as Brendan Rodgers looks to bring in one or two last additions to his replenished squad ahead of the 15/16 Premier League season.

Liverpool are confident of completing a £10.5million deal for the 28-year-old, with the players agent doing nothing to dampen exit rumours by refusing to rule out a move away from the San Siro.

Milan are thought to be open to the idea of selling Menez, who would make the club a profit after being signed on a Bosman last year.

Menez could be the second player in as many years to make the switch from Milan to Merseyside, following in the footsteps of Mario Balotelli. Although, fans of the Reds will be hoping Menez can have more of a positive impact than the often unpredictable Italian.
