Russian source Izvestia are repoting that Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore.

The source has stated that a deal 'in-principal' has been made between Liverpool and the Russian League leaders Anzhi for the colossal striker to move to Anfield in either January or in the off season next summer. The player is estimated to be worth around ₤9.5m

Lacina Traore moved to Anzhi at the start of the season from Russian Premier League rivals Kuban Krasnodar and has proved to be a worthwhile buy after scoring 12 goals in just 20 appearances. Including one Liverpool fans will know after he scored the winning against The Reds when they travelled to Russia to take on Anzhi in the Europa League.

Many of the Liverpool faithful may question a move for the 6ft 8in striker after sending Andy Carroll, a player who is similar in size and play style out on loan to Premier League rivals West Ham for the season. The question they will want answered is how will he fit into Brendan Rodgers footballing ideology.

Rodgers currently only has one fit senior striker at his disposal in the form of Luis Suarez after summer signing Fabio Borini was injured on international duty, so the Liverpool boss will most certainly be looking to bring in reinforcements as soon as possible, giving this speculative transfer some credibility.
