Liverpool demand Sanchez who closes in on Arsenal deal

Despite interest from Liverpool and Juventus for the services of Alexis Sanchez reports suggest that Arsenal are finalising a fee for the player with Barcelona. Money seems no object for Wenger as he continues to push to win major trophies for Arsenal. The Metro reported that Barcelona had accepted a £32m bid from Arsenal for the services of the 25-year-old Chilean and that a deal would be finalised to that affect. The transfer would become the second-largest in the club’s history behind the £42m Mesut Ozil.

There had been talk of Sanchez being a factor in the Suarez transfer deal and that possibility still cannot be discounted despite it being reported that he prefers North London as a destination. There is also the relative indignity of being a part-exchange which Sanchez may not be comfortable with as part of the larger Luis Suarez deal.

The transfer has dragged on however and with reports that Liverpool are unwilling to cut a cheaper deal with Barca and with the Sanchez plus cash option seemingly going south this could be an extremely expensive transfer window for the Catalan chiefs at an estimated £70m (90m Euros) according to The Independent.

The Gunners have been looking for a long-term striker option to compliment the existing crop of just Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanoga who flagged at points last season.

Sanchez has played for Barca since 2011 having been transferred from Udinese for £20m. The forward has played in 88 league matches for the Spanish giants, scoring 39 goals.
