Liverpool chief insists Reds won't make a rash decision over stadium move

Ian Ayre has hit back at Housing Minister Grant Shapps and warned Liverpool will not be forced into making a rash decision on the club's stadium. [LNB]Shapps claimed on Friday that Liverpool were scoring an 'own goal' by delaying a decision on their plans for a future home and were preventing the local Anfield area from being redeveloped.[LNB] The future? Despite releasing an image of their projected new stadium at Stanley Park, Liverpool have yet to commit to the development[LNB]But Ayre, the club's Managing Director, has forcefully insisted no amount of pressure from the government will sway Liverpool into making an early announcement on whether they intend to move to a new stadium on Stanley Park or redevelop Anfield[LNB]Ayre said: 'It is extremely disappointing that Mr Shapps should publicly point the finger at Liverpool FC and claim that they alone are delaying the regeneration of the local area.[LNB]'A considerable amount of work continues to identify the right solution to the stadium question.   [LNB]'However, this is not a decision that can be made swiftly, it will be made at the right speed that gives the correct solution for Liverpool FC in the long term interests of its fans. [LNB] On our terms: Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre (right) insists the club will not be rushed into a stadium move[LNB]'Mr Shapps should understand the complexity of that process.
