First strike: Aquilani celebrates goal against Pompey[LNB]Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez believes Alberto Aquilani will begin to live up to his £17million price tag before the end of season.[LNB]The midfielder has failed to make an impact at Anfield since moving from Roma last summer not helped by injuries and illness.[LNB]But Benitez has tipped the 25-year-old to start making an impact as Liverpool bid for a strong finish in the Barclays Premier League as the battle for fourth place and qualification to next season's Champions League hots up.[LNB]The Spaniard said: 'We need players with quality to help us improve until the end of the season. [LNB]'Alberto has got desire and he is working very hard. When we have him available, he can give us a different approach on the pitch in different games.' [LNB]Aquilani produced a eye-catching display in his last start for the Reds and scored in his first goal for the club in the 4-1 win over Portsmouth.[LNB]He was dropped to the bench for the subsequent trip to Manchester United but he could be in line for a prominent role when Sunderland visit this weekend.[LNB] Desire: Aquilani produced an assured performance on his last start for the Reds[LNB]'Physically you could see he coped with a lot of running last time and it was much better,' said Benitez.'It is a question of time (when he will be at his peak). It is disappointing that he was ill and missed out against Lille but we are hopeful he will continue to improve and play more games before the end of the season.'[LNB] Liverpool reject Albert Riera loan bid by Spartak Moscow as Spain outcast eyes Russia switch to save World Cup dream Liverpool striker Ryan Babel admits: I owe club a decent end to the seasonLIVERPOOL FC
