Liverpool boss Benitez hoping for victory at United to join the 100 club

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez will be hoping to triumph over Sir Alex Ferguson in more ways than one when his team face Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime.[LNB]Benitez is just one victory short of a century of league wins since taking over at Anfield in 2004 - and is set to reach the landmark figure far quicker than his United counterpart did at Old Trafford.[LNB] What more can I do? Rafa Benitez insists his imminent record of 100 league victories at Liverpool is a sign of the club's progress under his leadership.[LNB]'I was not aware of this statistic but it does prove that the club is going in the right direction,' said Benitez. 'You cannot sustain a statistic like this unless you have good players, so it is a great credit to the squad. [LNB]'If we win at Old Trafford it would be good for the statistics but the statistic which matters most is the points that you have in the league table. We want more than we have right now - this is the most important thing for us.[LNB] Rooney: I hate Liverpool and United will end their title dreams[LNB]Zidane: Forget Ronaldo and Messi, the best player in the world is Liverpool star Gerrard[LNB]Liverpool are improving but the force is with United, insists veteran Giggs[LNB]Babel insists United are beatable as Liverpool eye Old Trafford shock[LNB]LIVERPOOL FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB]MANCHESTER UNITED FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB][LNB]'We know that we can win against any team if we play to our capabilities, so this is what we must try to do. [LNB]'We had a very good result in the Champions League on Tuesday night and now we must take the belief from our performance against Real Madrid into this match with Manchester United.'[LNB]Not as impressive: Sir Alex Ferguson took 231 matches to arrive at his century of league victories.[LNB]Should Liverpool take all three points, Benitez will become the third fastest manager in Liverpool's history to clock up 100 league wins. [LNB]The clash is his 181st in charge and only legendary duo Bob Paisley and Kenny Dalglish can boast a better record. [LNB]Dalglish's 100th victory came in his 167th game, while Paisley's arrived in his 179th. Bill Shankly is currently third on the list with 100 wins coming in 184 games. United manager Ferguson took 231 matches to arrive at his ton.[LNB]Of more concern to Benitez, however, is the impact a win tomorrow would have on Liverpool's campaign.[LNB]'If we win then we can still think about the title; if you cannot do that it will be almost impossible to win the title,' he added.[LNB]'But we feel we are still in a fantastic position, much better than last season.'[LNB] Rooney: I hate Liverpool and United will end their title dreams[LNB]Zidane: Forget Ronaldo and Messi, the best player in the world is Liverpool star Gerrard[LNB]Liverpool are improving but the force is with United, insists veteran Giggs[LNB]Babel insists United are beatable as Liverpool eye Old Trafford shock[LNB]LIVERPOOL FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB]MANCHESTER UNITED FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB][LNB] [LNB]
