LIVE: Liverpool v FC Rabotnicki

05 August 2010 19:33
Liverpool will be hoping to avoid any upsets in their Europa League third qualifying round second leg against Macedonian minnows FC Rabotnicki. The Reds' new boss Roy Hodgson is making his home bow and Joe Cole is expected to make his competitive debut. The Anfield side will looking to wrap up the tie which they lead 2-0 after the first leg courtesy of a brace from David Ngog. Tom Bellwood is watching the action. [LNB] EUROPA LEAGUE QUALIFIERLiverpool 1 FC Rabotnicki 0 35 min: Aye, aye - that was nice! Ze Carlos brings a touch of samba magic to the event with a smart back-heel on the right-hand touchline. Fabio Silva takes the ball but is shut out by Jamie Carragher. [LNB]32 min: I get my first glimpse of the Kop in fully 30 minutes. Wandeir booms a good mile or so over. [LNB]28 min: More chances for Liverpool go begging. Joe Cole raises ooohs and aaahs from the Kop after his right foot drive from 25-yards sails a foot or two over the bar. [LNB]And David Ngog showed a first touch which can only be described as Heskey-esque. Bouncing a mile off his shin, seven-yards out a very decent chance went begging . But he's having a good night so far. His goal tonight means he has scored in two consecutive matches for the first time in his professional career in what is his 82nd game.[LNB]24 min : Liverpool really should bag five or six tonight. They need to dominate this team whose players arrived early so as they could take pictures of each other on the pitch before kick-off. [LNB]21 min: GOAL DAVID NGOG opens the scoring and it's all far too easy. Joe Cole clips a delightful cross into Ngog who is standing totally unmarked about seven-yards out to nod home off the underside of the crossbar. [LNB]19 min: Yellow card: Rabotnicki's Ze Carlos is booked for pushing on Martin Kelly as the pair wait for a corner to come in. [LNB]17 min: I've never heard this ground so quite during a game. I went on a tour 20-odd years ago, it was quiet then, but it was a Tuesday afternoon. [LNB] Debut boy: Joe Cole in action on his competitive bow for Liverpool[LNB]15 min: Danny Pacheco has half a sniff. Lucas lifts the ball over the Rabotnicki defence, Pacheco latches on to it but Bogatinov sprints off his line to paw clear. [LNB]12 min: Pretty much the worst free-kick I have ever seen. Well certainly the worst I have seen this season. Liverpool are caught off side, the ball is rolled back to the keeper who thumps up to Cavalieri who gathers with a somewhat bemused look on his face. [LNB]8 min: Close call for Ngog who must have been all of a couple of milimetres offside. Good work from Glen Johnson, cutting in from the right, his through-ball was perfect but Ngog had just moved too soon. Only just, mind.[LNB]6 min: The home fans are yet to wake from their summer slumbers. And it would seem the players have failed to shake off the cobwebs, too. Foul throw, a bad one, too. That's a touch embarrassing. [LNB]4 min: Jovanovic gets his first touch but it's a woeful kick to touch and Wandeir sees his long-range effort is scuffed horribly wide. [LNB]7.45pm: And we're off and running...[LNB]7.40pm: Right, here come the teams - Liverpool in Red and Rabotnicki in blue. YNWA is being sung, just but without the usual gusto. Oh, and it's far from a sell-out. But then you could have told me both those things before the game started. [LNB]Liverpool v Rabotnicki - teamsLiverpool: Cavalieri, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Kelly,Gerrard, Lucas, Pacheco, Cole, Jovanovic, Ngog. Subs: Gulacsi,Aquilani, Kyrgiakos, Maxi, Wilson, Spearing, Eccleston. [LNB]Rabotnicki::Bogatinov, Dimovski, Belica, Fernando Lopes, Adem, Tuneski, Gligorov,Todorovski, Ze Carlos, Da Silva, Wandeir. Subs: Kandikijan, Sekulovski,Marcio, Mojsov, Roberto Carlos, Petkovski, Sinkovic.[LNB]Referee: Peter Sippel (Germany)[LNB]7.30pm: Right, we're not expecting a full house or one of those grandstand atmospheres but tonight's clash is interesting nonetheless. [LNB]OK - there's Roy and Joe's debuts and, erm, that's it but such is the growing belief that the club will be bought out soon. Who by exactly, we're not sure. [LNB]7pm: This may not be the glamour tie that Liverpool fans would have wanted but this Europa League clash with FC Rabotnicki is certainly not short on drama. [LNB]Roy Hodgson is making his Anfield debut this evening and we're expecting Joe Cole to make his competitive debut for the Reds after his free transfer from Chelsea in the  summer. [LNB]Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are in the squad but may not start, Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel will all sit this one out. [LNB]The hosts are expecting to cruise comfortably past the Macedonian side after David Ngog's brace sealed victory in the first leg. [LNB]And today we learned that Uefa has charged Rabotnicki with improper conduct following their first-leg defeat in Skopje.[LNB]The club have been charged with failing to control their fans - believed to be the alleged racist taunting of the Liverpool players. European football's governing body will hold a hearing on August 19.[LNB]I'll have all the action as it happens from 7.45pm and you can fire you banter in this direction: tom.bellwood@dailymail.co.uk [LNB] David at the double: Ngog's brace set up what should be a straight-forward return leg at Anfield[LNB] Anfield bid NOT backed by China state fund - who 'haven't heard of Huang!'UEFA charge FK Rabotnicki over racists taunts during Liverpool Europa League clash Ryan Giggs dismisses Liverpool and City, claiming Chelsea are Manchester United's only threatLIVERPOOL FC
