LIVE: EUROPA LEAGUE - Unirea Urziceni v Liverpool and Shakhtar Donetsk v Fulham - as it happens

25 February 2010 19:41
Follow all the action as Liverpool and Fulham look to build on their slender leads from the first legs to move into the last 16 of the Europa League. Both sides hold a one goal advantage going into tonight's clashes - making this a nervy 90 for the two clubs. Tom Bellwood has all the news as it happens from 5.45pm.[LNB] EUROPA LEAGUEUnirea 1 Liverpool 3  (1-4 ag) Shakhtar 0 Fulham 1 (1-3 ag)7.17: Fulham are lucky, there. Costa thunders into the box, skipping past a  number of challenges but his cutback was intercepted by Hangeland for a corner.[LNB]7.14: GOAL! STEVEN GERRARD squeezes a shot under Arlauskis to seal the tie if any sealing needed to be done. Benayoun went on a mazy little run, he overran the ball but poked to Gerrard who fired the shot on a greasy surface under the keeper's dive.[LNB]7.09: Over in the Ukraine, Shakhtar are having the greater amount of possession but are yet to trouble Mark Schwarzer. Adriano has just headed into Schwarzer's hands from 10 yards but that's about it.[LNB]7.04: Early chance in the second half for Unirea. Paduretu dinked a back-post cross to Onofras who nodded down to Apostol but his shot flew wide from eight yards. Onofras was offisde, anyway. [LNB]7pm: Our games are back underway. [LNB]6.45: HALF TIME - Liverpool look to have done enough in that first 45 minutes against Unirea but the real story of the evening is in the Ukraine. Not only are Fulham still in front against Shakhtar, they've actually extended their lead. Brede Hangeland has given Roy Hodgson's side in a game they have spent the vast majority on the back foot. [LNB]6.43: Fulham are still defending manfully and for all their possession and neat interplay, Shakhtar have yet to fashion a decent chance since going behind. [LNB]6.40: GOAL! RYAN BABEL gives Liverpool breathing space with his well-taken if not breath-taking strike from all of six yards. A goal-poachers effort with a smart first touch to control but after the turgid opening 20 minutes any goal is welcome.[LNB]6.36: Chance for Unirea! And it comes from another set-piece, my word Liverpool look shaky. A delightful ball whipped into the six yard box wasn't dealt with and it hit Insua's chest and went no more than an inch wide.[LNB]6.33: GOAL! BREDE HANGELAND heads Fulham in front. Against the run of play but that was a soft goal. From Damien Duff's cross, Hangeland just stood tall and glanced a header to the back post. Shakhtar need at least two now![LNB] Well done big man: Hangeland takes the praise after nodding Fulham in front[LNB]6.30: It has been a torrid opening half hour for Roy Hodgson's side. They've barely had a kick and when they do have possession their opponents are onto them in pairs, harassing them and forcing errors. Having said that, Bobby Zamora has just won a free-kick to the right of the box ... [LNB]6.29: GOAL! JAVIER MASCHERANO with a stunning drive to put Liverpool back in the driving seat. A goal-mouth scramble was scuffed clear but only to the Argentina midfielder who swept home. Very smart finish.[LNB]6.26: Chance for Shakhtar. A rather ugly-looking corner bounced through the crowded box but was played wide to Willian who snatched his shot wide from 12 yards. Waste.[LNB]6.24: Gerrard wastes a free-kick from a decent position out wide which draws groans form the travelling fans. Liverpool haven't got going tonight. Is this to be another one of 'those nights' the reds have endured so many of this season?[LNB]6.20: While we digest the news of Liverpool conceding yet another goal from a set-piece, I can tell you that Fulham are holding their own against Donetsk.  However, the Ukrainians have had much the better of the opportunities. Its a slog in midfield but the Shakhtar are flooding the ball out wide, forcing Fulham on to the back foot.[LNB]6.16: GOAL! BRUNO FERNANDES heads Unirea level on aggregate. Shocking marking from Liverpool to allow Fernandes a free header from a corner - 10 yards out.[LNB] Too easy: Fernandes scores for Unirea with a free header [LNB]6.10: Credit to the hosts, they don't look overawed at all. They've just forced a corner after going close and have enjoyed a decent amount of possession. [LNB]6.08: A bustling run from Ngog, all arms and legs as he bustles into the box is pulled up by the ref who noticed, quite rightly that he had fouled Galamaz on his way to goal.[LNB]6.03: Early chance for Liverpool. Gerrard's drive from the edge of the box was well beaten away by Arlauskis. It is well short of a sell-out in Romania but its a tidy ground and the pitch looks decent enough. [LNB]6pm: Bang on time, our two games kick off.[LNB]Shakhtar v Fulham - teamsShakhtar Donetsk: Pyatov, Srna, Kucher, Rakitskiy, Rat, Hubschman, Fernandinho, Ilsinho, Jadson, Willian, Luiz Adriano. [LNB]Referee: Stefan Johannesson[LNB]5.52: Here's the Liverpool team news ...  Yossi Benayoun and striker David Ngog return to the starting line-up for the  clash against Unirea at the Steaua Stadium in Bucharest.[LNB]They are the only two changes from the side which drew 0-0 with ManchesterCity on Sunday, with Maxi Rodriguez ineligible and Dirk Kuyt rested to the bench.[LNB]Fernando Torres is among the substitutes for the second successive game having successfully returned from a knee operation.[LNB] Unirea have made one change from the Anfield tie, with Valeriu Bordeanu replacingthe suspended Pablo Brandan. [LNB]5.45pm: Good evening ... or is afternoon? I'm not sure. Either way, welcome to Sportsmail coverage of Liverpool and Fulham's clashes in their last 32 second leg matches in the Europa League.  [LNB]Both teams won the first leg ties last week but neither have convincing leads - or anything that will make them think they have this in the bag. [LNB]Liverpool's form has, as you probably know, been patchy this season but a decent run of form of late has steadied the ship. [LNB]Much the same can be said for Fulham who were going great guns until a dip around Christmas halted their assault on the European spots in the Premier League.[LNB]I'll have all team news for you as and when I get it and if you want to share you thoughts tonight you can ... tom.bellwood@dailymail.co.uk[LNB] Kop clash: Liverpool laboured in the victory at Anfield last week[LNB] Mascherano targets Europa glory to boost Liverpool hopes of top-four finishBlack Friday: Portsmouth to become first Premier League club to go into administrationFULHAM FC
