LFC owner John Henry: “We are proud, humble and committed to winning"

John Henry[LNB]NEW Liverpool FC owner John Henry has pledged to turn the Reds back into winners on the pitch.[LNB]At a triumphant unveiling yesterday, the Boston Red Sox chief said he was incredibly proud and humble to become Anfields new custodian.[LNB]Emerging from the offices of the clubs solicitors Slaughter and May in London, New England Sports Ventures (NESV) supremo Mr Henry was all smiles as he outlined his vision that he vowed would see the return of the glory days.[LNB]And in a commitment to Reds fans, he said: We are committed first and foremost to winning. We have a history of winning, and today we want LFC supporters to know that this approach is what we intend to bring to this great club."[LNB]We have a shared objective to return Liverpool FC to its rightful place in English and European football, successful and competing for trophies.[LNB] In a series of key messages, the baseball multi-millionaire vowed to:[LNB]Bring crippling annual interest payments down from s30m to s2m.[LNB]Never use loaned or leveraged money in his control of the club.[LNB]Talk to community leaders and fans about the future at Anfield.[LNB]Henry conceded he did lose confidence at times, fearing his bid to buy Liverpool would be scuppered by last-ditch legal manoeuvrings by former co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.[LNB]And he warned supporters the future would not be easy with a real challenge on the clubs hands.[LNB]The deal was sealed at around 3.45pm yesterday after Hicks and George exhausted all avenues in their bid to stay in control when Mill Financials last-gasp offer to pay off s200m of RBS debt fell on deaf ears.[LNB]
