Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has rejected fears that Andy Carroll's future is threatened by his lifestyle. [LNB]England manager Fabio Capello warned the 22-year-old ahead of his side's friendly with Ghana, saying Carroll had to drink less to improve as a player. [LNB]But Dalglish backed his ?35million signing, who has shown commitment to battle back to fitness from a serious thigh injury. [LNB]'Andy knows what is required of him,' said Dalglish. 'He is the most important part of all this. [LNB] That's my boy: Kenny Dalglish (left) has rushed to defend Andy Carroll[LNB] 'Andy has done fantastically well getting back to where he has, with his application and dedication. Whatever is somebody else's opinion is up to them.' [LNB]Dalglish was quick to dispel the idea that Carroll has behaved irresponsibly since swapping Tyneside for Merseyside on transfer deadline day in January. [LNB]'Andy cannot be criticised for what he has done since he has been here,' said Dalglish. 'He is focused on football. The goal he scored (against Ghana) was a great reward for his recovery. It will give him a lift and kick him on further.' [LNB]Carroll impressed many at Anfield with the way he went about recovering from the injury which kept him out for 10 weeks and Dalglish does not want judgments to be formed from his time at Newcastle. [LNB]However, Capello spoke to the striker about his drinking before Tuesday's match and, despite Carroll hitting a superb goal in the 1-1 draw, the England boss was restrained in his praise. [LNB] Talking on the pitch: Carroll struck his first England goal at Wembley[LNB]Dalglish had no criticism of Capello, however, over Carroll playing for an hour at Wembley. [LNB]'England handled him responsibly, as they did Glen Johnson, ' said Dalglish.[LNB]Whether he will be quite so relaxed at the end of the season remains to be seen. [LNB]Stuart Pearce wants Carroll to spearhead the Under 21s' European Championship bid in Denmark, saying England would be 'rather silly' not to pick the best players.[LNB] No problems: Dalglish thought England and Fabio Capello (right) handled his players well - but will he feel the same of Stuart Pearce after this summer's Under 21 European Championship?[LNB]Liverpool do not want Carrolloverburdened with a month of tournament football but Dalglish hascalmed the idea that he is heading for a showdown with the FA over theissue. [LNB]He wants tosee his No 9 finish the Barclays Premier League campaign in style andhelp Liverpool, who face a reunion with former boss Roy Hodgson at WestBromwich on Saturday, clinch a European spot. [LNB]'Wewould rather wait and see what we have to put up with, or look forwardto, first,' said Dalglish. 'There is no point talking about somethingthat might never happen.[LNB]'Stuart said exactly what you would (expect a coach) to say. I've got a very good relationship with Pearcey. I don't have a problem with what he's said.'
