Late test for Carroll

Liverpool will leave it as late as possible before making a decision on Andy Carroll's availability to face Newcastle. Carroll missed last Saturday's win over Birmingham after picking up a knee injury against Arsenal the week before. The striker is recovering well, but it is uncertain if he will recover in time to face his former club on Sunday. However, Kenny Dalglish will leave it as late as possible before making a decision. "We don't know if he'll be fit. It's only Thursday so we've got a few days before the game," the boss told reporters yesterday. "I don't think nature knows it's his old club Newcastle, so if he's not fit, he's not fit. "For Andy it's a poignant game but if he's not fit, he's not fit. We can't do anything about that."
