Kuyt predicts United struggle
16 Mar 2009 - 09:08:58
Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt believes Saturday's 4-1 victory over Manchester United has seriously undermined their title rivals' confidence.
The Reds closed to within four points of the leaders and breathed fresh life into the Premier League title race after a stunning performance at Old Trafford.
United still have a game in hand, but Kuyt believes Sir Alex Ferguson's side could now come unstuck following their heaviest home league defeat for 17 years.
"This result is a huge lift to the players," he told the club's official website.
"It will still be very difficult to catch them. If they win their game in hand it'll be seven points, but all we can do is win our own games.
"They have to struggle now and hopefully they will do after this result. We beat them 4-1, so they're not so happy - let's hope they take this into the next game.
"We are very proud of beating Real Madrid twice and also beating Manchester United away.
"It's been an incredible week. We got two very good results against two of the best teams in Europe.
"We've enjoyed it and hopefully we can take this form into our next game against Aston Villa."
