Kuyt earns Rafa's praise
23 Apr 2007 - 11:24:29
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez hailed Dirk Kuyt after the Dutchman's brace in the 2-0 victory against Wigan Athletic brought his Premiership goal tally for the season up to 12.
The 26-year-old striker cost the Reds £9million when he moved to Anfield from Feyenoord last summer, but Benitez believes he was worth every penny.
"Dirk was a key player for us against Wigan but I think by the end of the season he will have proved himself to have been a key player for us all year," said Benitez.
"He is always a player with confidence. If he's not scoring goals himself, he just works harder, which is a solution to that problem.
"Now, he's scoring good goals. He might have ended up with three or four out there, and that has to be positive for the team."
Despite a healthy scoring record in the Premiership, Kuyt has still to break his duck in the Champions League this term, despite appearing in eight European games.
