Kuyt backs 'best' Torres

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt believes team-mate Fernando Torres is currently the best striker in the Premier League.

Torres, 23, has made an instant impact since joining the Reds for a reported initial £20million in the summer from Atletico Madrid.

The Spain international has netted 12 times in 19 games this season and Kuyt believes his record marks him out as the best striker currently operating in England.

Torres is expected to start Sunday's title showdown with Manchester United at Anfield.

"He's the best striker in the league so far this season," Kuyt told his official website. "Every player has his own ability and his own qualities. But you just try to play your own game.

"We have four strikers at Liverpool at the moment, but the understanding between us all is really good.

"I'm very happy Fernando Torres is here because he's a great player who makes a difference in games.

"He's so quick. He's still young but he's got the ability and technique to pull off moves and score goals."
