Kop that! Liverpool No 2 Lee lands FA charge for outburst at Spurs defeat

20 August 2009 12:27
Liverpool assistant manager Sammy Lee has been charged by the Football Association with improper conduct after a clash with fourth official Stuart Attwell during the defeat to Tottenham on Sunday. Lee was sent off after referee Phil Dowd ignored two penalty appeals in the tense closing moments of Spurs' 2-1 victory. Benoit Assou-Ekotto was accused of fouling Andriy Voronin and the Spurs player was then the centre of handball claims. Lee has until August 26 to respond to the charge under what are new fast-track regulations relating to technical area misconduct offences. Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson and Norwich manager Paul Lambert have also been charged with improper conduct.  Ferguson's charge relates to the use of abusive language towards the referee in the tunnel following Peterborough's home defeat against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night. Lambert's follows his dismissal from the dugout when manager of Colchester in their match against Yeovil.
