Kenny: We deserved it
Kenny Dalglish praised his Liverpool side after their 2-1 Carling Cup win at Brighton. "We have total respect for Brighton and what Gus Poyet has achieved," he said after the game. "We wish them well for the season, but you can't say we never deserved to win that game."I think for us it was a fantastic response to what happened on Sunday so we are delighted. "We wish Gus all the very best in his campaign in the Championship. They are a good side Brighton, well organised and a bit of pace about them. "We had to play really well to get through and are delighted to get through. As I say, the lads deserve great credit for the way that they played."
