Kenny Dalglish saluted his Liverpool players' perseverance after seeing them book a Europa League last 16 place with an 86th-minute Dirk Kuyt winner.[LNB] 'We knew Sparta would be strong and physical, and they were,' he said. 'But the boys deserve great credit for their determination and effort and the pride they took in the club and themselves. Martin Kelly felt a twinge at the top of his leg, Sotiris Kyrgiakos suffered a cut eye and Daniel Agger had to come off near the end. But at least that meant Joe Cole stayed on for the 90 minutes, and that won't have done him any harm.' [LNB] Reflecting on Jamie Carragher's latest milestone, in overtaking Ryan Giggs for the most European appearances by a British player, Dalglish said: 'It sums up his contribution to this club. He has been a magnificent servant, and to walk away with a record like that speaks volumes for him and the success of this club. He is a credit to himself, the club and professional football in general.' There's more to come.[LNB] 'It was a hard game and we should have finished it off earlier, but at the end of the day a win is all that counts.'[LNB] Liverpool 1 Sparta Prague 0 (agg 1-0): Dirk Kuyt ends the frustration and heads Reds into last 16 of Europa LeagueLiverpool 1 Sparta Prague 0 - the action as it happenedAnfield Match Zone: Shot-shy Liverpool need Andy Carroll Joe Cole watch: Did Liverpool midfielder impress against Sparta Prague? All the latest Liverpool news, features and opinion[LNB] [LNB]
