'It's about restoring that Anfield confidence' - Kenny Dalglish talks of the job ahead at Liverpool[LNB]NEW Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has vowed to inject desperately-needed confidence back into his Liverpool players as he bids to turn around the Reds' ailing fortunes.[LNB]And he promised to dispense with the romance surrounding his Anfield comeback as he sets about improving results on the pitch.[LNB]Dalglish faced the massed ranks of the media yesterday in the club's trophy room as he returned to the Liverpool hotseat for the first time since he quit the club two decades ago.[LNB]The smiling Scot takes control of a struggling Reds side just four points above the Premier League drop zone.[LNB] And Sunday's defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup, now leaves only the Europa League as Liverpool's chance of silverware this season.[LNB]Dalglish said: 'Football is about confidence for all clubs isn't it?[LNB]'What they (the players) need is pointing in the right direction and a real lift.[LNB]'A bit of belief and a few goals wouldn't go amiss for them, and a couple of wins on the back of that I'm sure they'll get a great lift from it.[LNB]'There's a lot of really good players at the football club but they've got to believe in a nice way that they are good players.[LNB]'You want them to be confident in what they're doing, happy in what they're doing to get on with the job and I'll sure they'll be fine.'[LNB]Dalglish's first training session took place at Melwood yesterday where former Chelsea assistant manager Steve Clarke, appointed over the weekend as new first team coach, was present running the rule over his charges.[LNB]Tomorrow's game at Blackpool is the first opportunity for Dalglish to try and reverse Liverpool's fortunes in the Premier League.[LNB]And while the 59-year-old is enjoying the fervour of his Anfield return, he knows it's time to get down to business.[LNB]He said: 'We've got to manage expectations. At the moment, it's a wee bit romantic, to be honest.[LNB]'The romance is brilliant, it's romantic for me to be back, and the supporters as well, but at the end of day, this game is not built on romance, but hard facts, and the hard facts are we've got to start winning games.[LNB]'Once we get the romantics out the road, we can get to work and we can see where we can go from there.'
