Kenny Dalglish has urged Andy Carroll to take revenge for the elbow that flattened him in Portugal by firing Liverpool into the Europa League quarter-finals. [LNB]Liverpool's ?35million striker was lucky to escape serious injury when Braga defender Kaka smashed his arm into Carroll's face during the first leg of their last-16 clash, which Braga won 1-0. [LNB] Aftermath: Carroll goes down after Kaka's challenge[LNB] [LNB]Belgian referee Serge Gumienny took no action but the incident was captured by television cameras. [LNB]Dalglish is convinced Kaka acted intentionally and is bewildered that UEFA have failed to take retrospective action against the Brazilian. [LNB] Anger management: Dalglish has told Carroll to focus his emotions[LNB]Liverpool, according to Dalglish, were 'terrible' for much of the first leg but Carroll's introduction as a 56th-minute substitute caused Braga problems and the manager is confident he will build on that performance. [LNB]'The best way for Andy to answer anything is to be on the winning side,' said Dalglish. [LNB]'That's the same for everyone. The best way to vent our anger would be to get a good result.[LNB]'Everyone knows the threat he carries and we got better after he came on but we have left ourselves a lot of room for improvement.'[LNB]Dalglish's anger at Kaka is understandable, because he knows the damage a flailing elbow can do he had his cheekbone fractured by Manchester United defender KevinMoran in January 1984. Dalglish required surgery and missed nine weeks.[LNB]Fortunately, Carroll came to no harm but that has not dulled Dalglish's sense ofinjustice and, as he prepares to give the 22-year-old his first start at Anfield tonight, he wants to see Liverpool's No 9 have the last laugh. [LNB]'I honestly didn't see the incident during the game because Andy had his back to us,' said Dalglish.[LNB]'But when I saw it on television, you could see it was a bad challenge. For us not to get a free-kick was even worse. [LNB]'Forsomething as deliberate as that, they (UEFA) must surely have some sortofretrospective retribution.'[LNB]  Nani blasts reckless Carragher over tackle that could have wrecked seasonDalglish calls on Liverpool to maintain proud European tradition and overturn Braga deficitAll the latest Liverpool news, features and opinion[LNB]  Explore more:People: Kenny Dalglish, Andy Carroll Places: Liverpool, Portugal
