Keane's Liverpool future in doubt as he snubs Cup match after Rafa axe

Robbie Keane's future is in doubt again after he stayed away from Liverpool's draw with Everton The manager did little to dampen speculation that Keane could soon be on his way by preferring rookie striker David Ngog, 19, signed for£1.5m from Paris St-Germain, as a substitute. Benitez added insult to injury by suggesting Ngog had done more to merit a place on the bench. ‘I have not seen Robbie, but I know all players want to be involved with the squad and may not be happy at being left out,’ he said. ‘I decided not to select him, that was all. He is not injured, but Ngog scored two goals for the reserves the other day, so he was a good option.’ After seeing his side held by Everton, Benitez accused his derby rivals of being negative. Robbie Keane and Rafa Benitez haven't enjoyed the easiest of relationships since the Irishman joined from Spurs 'Only one team tried to win,' he said. 'The other only tried not to lose and when they put 10 men behind the ball it is very difficult.’ Everton counterpart David Moyes replied: ‘We never came here looking for a draw. We look after our own business at Everton and do things with a bit of dignity.’ The teams meet in the replay on February 4, with the winners drawn at home to eitherDoncaster or Aston Villa, who replay the same night. Arsenal also have an unwelcome replay, at home to Cardiff, with West Bromwich or Burnley waiting in the fifth round. Dubai ruler Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum may revive his interest in Liverpool after Kuwaiti billionaire Nasser Al Kharafi is believed to have pulled out of talks.   More...
