Keane kept Reds goal faith
02 Oct 2008 - 13:04:11
Robbie Keane claimed he never doubted he would hit the goal trail after finally registering his first for new club Liverpool.
The Republic of Ireland striker found the net in Wednesday's 3-1 Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven to bring to an end a ten-game barren run following his £20million arrival from Spurs during the summer.
But despite revealing his delight at scoring his first for the Reds at Anfield, Keane claims he was always confident the goals would come for his new club.
"I'm pleased to get it out of the way, to be honest," he told the club's official website.
"It was a good ball from Fernando (Torres) and I managed to get a yard on the defender and connect nicely with it.
"Luckily enough it went in and hopefully now I can get a lot more.
"But tonight wasn't about Robbie Keane scoring, it was about getting three points and continuing this run we're on.
"As players, we don't really worry or think about it.
"It was the same with me at Tottenham last year when I was looking for my 100th goal and it took a few games."
