Juve agree to sell Poulsen to Liverpool

Juventus have announced they have agreed a fee with Liverpool for the sale of Christian Poulsen to the Merseyside club. Liverpool are in the market for a defensive midfielder with Javier Mascherano itching for a move away from the Barclays Premier League. Poulsen is the man earmarked to replace him by new Reds boss Roy Hodgson and the transfer edged a step closer on Thursday morning with Juve confirming a fee had been agreed. A statement on the Juve website read: "Juventus Football Club can announce that it has completed the agreement with Liverpool FC for the outright transfer of Christian Poulsen for a fee of 5.475million euros (£4.5m) payable in two instalments "The fee will further increase by up to 1.2million euros depending on his achievements during the contract period."
