Jose Enrique to Liverpool a done deal, says Phil Thompson

Jose Enrique is set to follow Andy Carroll from Newcastle to Liverpool after Reds legend Phil Thompson revealed a deal had been done for the full-back. [LNB]Enrique, 25, has been linked with several big European clubs after impressing for the Magpies but it appears Liverpool have won the race for the ?15million-rated defender. [LNB]Thompson, a friend of Anfield manager Kenny Dalglish, told TV2 in Norway: 'From what I've heard, yes the deal has been done and he will come to Liverpool. [LNB] Out of Toon: Enrique (left) could be in a Liverpool jersey next season[LNB]'It'll be interesting because he's done very well. He had a difficult first season coming into the Premier League a couple of years ago but he really understands the game now. [LNB]'He's one of those full backs who is good going forward but he's also a good defender and I think that is the main thing.' [LNB]Spaniard Enrique joined Newcastle for ?6.3m from Villarreal in 2007 and signed a five-year deal.
