Jordan Henderson vows to make impact at Liverpool

ShareJordan Henderson is targeting regular first-team football and says he has not moved to Liverpool to make up the numbers. There have been questions raised since the 20-year-old's ?16million move from Sunderland about Henderson's development in a squad with fierce competition for places. However, the midfielder is not daunted by the challenge and insists he will be ready to seize his chance when it comes. 'I've got to make sure I work hard and do everything I can to make sure I'm starting in the team. I think, if I train well and work hard, I'll get my chance and I'll take it. 'I spoke to the manager and he said he thinks I can play in a few positions. I'm not bothered where I play. All I care about is making sure that I'm in the starting 11 and playing regular football.' In his hands: New Liverpool star Henderson will wear the new Umbro Geometra boots against Ukraine on Wednesday Henderson, who will be in England Under 21s' starting line-up for tomorrow's Group B game against Ukraine, added: 'Liverpool have paid a lot of money for me but that shows they have faith in me.'
