Jordan Henderson and Phil Jones join up at England Under 21s

ShareJordan Henderson and Phil Jones were back on England duty after their whirlwind 24 hours. After Henderson joined Liverpool for ?16m and Jones headed to Manchester United for a similar fee, the duo linked up with the Under 21 squad for the first day's training in Denmark before this summer's European Championships. Under 21 manager Stuart Pearce insists they are fully focused despite the huge attention their moves have captured. Pearce said: 'It wasn't a hindrance because I know what the sort of players I'm dealing with, with those two individuals are fantastically focused players and an absolute pleasure to work with. High five: Jones is greeted by watching schoolkids at Montjasa Park Stadium 'I had contact with both of them in respect to asking permission to go and speak to the clubs and tie up individual deals that they got. 'What we do know is they're back, they're focused with us and they've got a concentration and a focus for the Under-21s. 'If I put myself in their position I would want a deal tied up before I went to a major championship. I wouldn't want to be worrying about it while I'm at the championship and I think that was their mentality as well. They were with us last night, then back on the training pitch today with no problems at all and we're pleased for them. 'They are extremely talented players so I'm not surprised that clubs are looking to vie for their services.' When asked if the deals were done, Pearce added: 'I've got no interest really, I know the players are back with us, they're quite happy. I've no idea, I've not spoken to them in depth about what's gone on or what hasn't gone on at individual clubs.
