iverpool defender Glen Johnson admits his return from a long injury lay-off has been difficult but thinks he is finally returning to his best.[LNB] The England international missed more than two months at a crucial stage of the season with a knee injury sustained in the victory over Aston Villa at the end of December.[LNB]It has taken him a while to ease himself back into the first team since his comeback match in the defeat at Wigan in early March.[LNB]But he hopes there is still enough time left in the season for him to have an impact, with the former Chelsea and Portsmouth defender targeting success in the Europa League where Liverpool face Atletico Madrid in the semi-final.[LNB]"Obviously each game from the injury I am picking up more and more fitness," he said.[LNB]"When you have been out for so long it is difficult to pick up where you left off because your match fitness has gone out the window and you need games to get that back.[LNB]"Every game I feel better and better now."[LNB]Speculation surrounding manager Rafael Benitez's future has surfaced again after Juventus again raised the issue of him taking over in the summer.[LNB]Benitez has also continually been linked with a return to Real Madrid but his agent Manuel Garcia Quilon insists the Reds boss is committed to Liverpool - as long as there is some sign the financial restrictions he has to work under are likely to ease.[LNB]Liverpool are currently trying to slice £100million off their £237million debt and without more freedom in their finances Benitez will not be able to compete with the big spenders in the Premier League.[LNB]The Spaniard has already said he believes the squad needs about £50million of investment to make up lost ground after the current disappointing campaign.[LNB]"The intention of Benitez is to fulfil the contract that he has with Liverpool until 2014 but it's true that the club is subject to fluctuations in their financial situation," said Quilon.[LNB]"They could influence the future of the club and therefore Benitez as well."[LNB]Benitez's agent also suggested there had been interest in buying the club from investors in China but the club have played down those claims.
