Johnson expects Carroll to make impact

Glen Johnson is tipping Liverpool team-mate Andy Carroll to explode onto the international scene. Carroll linked up with Johnson at England's training base in Watford on Monday night ahead of Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales at the Millennium Stadium. Although the 22-year-old striker only made his international debut against France in November, coach Fabio Capello has already earmarked Carroll as one of the key members of his squad. And, after a couple of months in the same Anfield dressing room as the £35million new arrival, Johnson, who was visiting the Ellesmere Port car plant of new England sponsors Vauxhall, can see exactly why. "He scares the life out of opposition defences," said the full-back. "Everyone sees Andy as a big target man, who can hold the ball up. But there is far more to his game than that. "He is always an outlet. You can stretch the play by giving it to him and he scores goals. Defenders just do not like the way he plays. He has caught me by surprise with his development but in football your life can change very quickly. There is no doubt he can make a big impact."
