JOHN ALDRIDGE: Mersey derby win a waste if Liverpool FC winning run doesn’t follow

IT'S vital that Liverpool build some momentum on the back of their victory in the derby.[LNB]It was a poor game but sometimes you have to 'win ugly' and we did that at Goodison.[LNB]Everton were the better side, but they failed to capitalise on their pressure and fortunately for us Pepe Reina was in outstanding form.[LNB]Grinding out a positive result without playing particularly well is something we haven't done enough of so far this season.[LNB]I don't think we could take much confidence from the win against Debrecen as we were poor on the night and went out of the Champions League.[LNB]But to go to Everton and come away with a victory will be a massive boost to morale.[LNB]We need it to be the start of a long unbeaten run and if we can go from now until the end of January without losing then we'll be right back where we belong in the top four.[LNB]Two clean sheets in a row is positive and we've certainly looked better defensively since Daniel Agger came back into the side alongside Jamie Carragher.[LNB]Martin Skrtel had been having a poor season and probably needs a spell out.[LNB]Carragher and Agger were excellent at Goodison but I still think there's room for improvement at the back and I would rather see Fabio Aurelio at left-back in place of Emiliano Insua.
