John Aldridge: Liverpool FC travelling circus is now one bad joke

IF Liverpool had the same away record as Blackpool we would be level on points with Chelsea. How galling, frustrating and embarrassing is that?[LNB]Blackpool have picked up 14 points on their travels already this season, while we've only managed a woeful five. That puts into perspective how bad we've been.[LNB]It's not really much to ask to expect us to do as well away as a newly promoted club like Blackpool, is it?[LNB] You can moan about the strength of Roy Hodgson's squad but it's not just about that. After all we've got a lot more quality than Blackpool.[LNB]It goes much deeper than that. The reason Blackpool have gone to places like Newcastle and Stoke and picked up maximum points is because they have a real go and try to win games.[LNB]In contrast the lack of belief and the lack of character when Liverpool play away is just a joke. I'm sick and tired of going on about it.[LNB]Just look at our goal difference. We've played 17 games and it's minus one.[LNB]Hand on heart as a Liverpool fan I can't see us getting back in the Champions League this season. We're not going to finish in the top four.[LNB]I see this season now as being a learning process. We need to try to salvage something from it to take into the next campaign. A trip to the Europa League final in Dublin would be nice.[LNB]If you can't even do the basics right then you've got no chance of winning games and that was the case at Newcastle on Saturday.
