John Aldridge: Liverpool FC may have lost at Spurs, but there were plenty of positives

THERE is only one word to describe my feelings after Sunday's last-gasp defeat to Tottenham at White Hart Lane I'm afraid - gutted.[LNB]A win over a very good Spurs side would have put Liverpool in a really promising position - indeed, if we'd won by two goals we'd have gone above them in the table - and so to see the result snatched away so late in the day was especially galling.[LNB]Nevertheless, there was plenty to be positive about from a performance perspective. Liverpool at least went there to win the game; a welcome change after some of their recent away performances.[LNB]The big shame was that they didn't take their chances to wrap the game up at 1-0. Maxi - who had his best game for the club I thought - and Torres both wasted big chances, but at least they were creating openings. In fact, they managed to create more opportunities than in the Wigan and Stoke games combined![LNB] Overall the 4-4-2 system, with David Ngog supporting Torres, worked pretty well. At the moment, with the personnel Liverpool have, I think it is the formation that fits best.
