Jen Chang leaves Liverpool after PR own goal with spoof blogger

Chang, who only moved to Anfield last summer to replace the long-serving and highly respected Ian Cotton, has officially left ‘by mutual consent’.

However, his position has been under scrutiny since allegations he threatened a Liverpool supporter who’d set up a high profile blog posing as a journalist. The embarrassment caused by Chang’s much-publicised meeting with Sean Cummins, whose parody account as the mythical ‘Duncan Jenkins’ attracted a wide following on Twitter, has undoubtedly contributed to Chang’s swift departure.

Cummins made several allegations against Chang, including bizarre suggestions the blogger would incur the wrath of supporters and have ‘dog dirt posted through his letterbox’ if Liverpool fans thought he was having a detrimental effect on club business. It was also suggested Cummins cost Liverpool £300,000 when they signed Fabio Borini from Roma because sensitive information was put on Twitter by the blogger.
