Javier Mascherano set to return for Chelsea vs Liverpool FC

JAVIER MASCHERANO is set to return to the Liverpool side for Sunday's Premier League clash at Chelsea. The tough-tackling midfielder has responded well to treatment after missing Tuesday's Champions League defeat to Fiorentina due to a hamstring injury. Mascherano was sorely missed during a disappointing night in Italy and as long as he doesn't suffer a setback will earn a recall for the trip to Stamford Bridge. Another player hoping to be involved in the crucial showdown in the capital is Daniel Agger. The defender made his comeback following back surgery in the reserves' 2-0 win over Manchester City on Tuesday night and came through unscathed. It was the Danish centre-back's first appearance since pre-season and he played 68 minutes for John McMahon's side. "It felt good to be back on the pitch again," Agger said. "It is always frustrating when you are out injured and can't play football, so to get back out there again was great. "I knew in pre-season that my back wasn't right so I had to get the problem sorted. "I set myself the target to be back around this time so I'm happy.
