ShareArsenal and Liverpool have won the battle over Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll dodging the Euro Under 21 finals this summer. [LNB]The players were expected to be key members for the national team at the European Championships next month. But they have now been removed from Stuart Pearce's options for the tournament in Denmark.[LNB]It means Wilshere's season will end with the Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland at Wembley on June 4. Carroll is sidelined with a thigh injury.[LNB] Bobby Zamora was also named in the senior England squad for the first time since August.[LNB] Centre of attention: Jack Wilshere will now not be part of the England U21 squad[LNB]England senior squad (v Switzerland) GOALKEEPERS: Scott Carson (West Bromwich), Joe Hart (Manchester City), David Stockdale (Fulham); [LNB]DEFENDERS: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Bolton), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), John Terry (Chelsea), Kyle Walker (Tottenham);[LNB] MIDFIELDERS: GarethBarry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Stewart Downing (Aston Villa), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Scott Parker (West Ham), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Ashley Young (Aston Villa);[LNB] STRIKERS: Darren Bent (Aston Villa), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Bobby Zamora (Fulham)[LNB]England U21 squad for Euro finals GOALKEEPERS: Frankie Fielding (Derby County), Jason Steele (Middlesbrough), Alex McCarthy (Reading); [LNB]DEFENDERS: Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jones (Blackburn Rovers), Michael Mancienne (Chelsea), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham); [LNB]MIDFIELDERS: Marc Albrighton (Aston Villa), Tom Cleverley (Man United), Jack Cork (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Henri Lansbury (Arsenal), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham), Scott Sinclair (Swansea); [LNB]STRIKERS: Nathan Delfouneso (Aston Villa), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United), Connor Wickham (Ipswich) [LNB] Wilshere, 19, told Pearce that he no longer wanted to go, echoing the concerns expressed by Arsenal's sports science department that playing could put him at serious risk of injury.[LNB]Wilsherehas made 58 appearances for club and country already this season and physiologists at the club have presented him with the evidence that proves his performances have taken a significant dip in the last month.[LNB]Pearce has listened to those concerns and - even though he had told Wenger he intended to select Wilshere - he questioned the benefitof taking a player who could be physically and mentally exhausted by the time he gets to Denmark.[LNB]Pearce said: 'Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere will not be part of the Under 21 squad which travels to Denmark. Andy has been ruled out through injury.[LNB] Hitman: England Under 21s will miss the striking threat of Andy Carroll in Denmark[LNB]'I spoke to Jack last week and he explained that while he told me in March that he wanted to be part of the squad, he now feels he is not in the best condition to take part in the finals.[LNB]'That is based on the number of gameshe has played for Arsenal this season, sports science data which Jack was presented with last week and concerns he has for his fitness lookingahead to next season.[LNB]'Jack has always expressed his enjoyment at being involved with the Under 21 squad, and while I am disappointed not to have him with us for the finals I've accepted the situation.[LNB]'I am very conscious of the importance of looking after all our players, and that is why I have frequent conversations with club managers throughout the season.[LNB]'I believe that representing your country in international development tournaments can be a great advantage to players, and increases the chances of being successful at senior level.'[LNB] Back in the fold: Bobby Zamora (left) has impressed Fabio Capello for Fulham[LNB]Zamora was on Capello's provisional listbut, after scoring in Fulham's draw with Arsenal yesterday, Mark Hughessuggested the striker was not properly fit after recovering from a broken leg sustained in September.[LNB]However, with Carroll ruled out through injury and Wayne Rooney suspended, Zamora has been selected in a four-man strike force that alsoincludes Darren Bent, Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch.[LNB]As expected, there was no place for Robert Green, who had hinted he did not wish to be involved on this occasion.[LNB]With Ben Foster standing down from international duty for the forseeable future, it means Scott Carson and Fulham second-choice David Stockdale will act as back-up to Joe Hart.[LNB] Down and out: Robert Green has resisted a call-up with England this time[LNB]Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has been selected for the first time since he had the captaincy taken away by Capello.[LNB]He is expected to start alongside John Terry against the Swiss as Michael Dawson, who started the last qualifier, against Wales in September, is not involved.[LNB]There is a return in central midfield for Michael Carrick, who has not featured since returning from the World Cup without playing a game.[LNB]Of the squad Capello selected for the Wales game, Aaron Lennon and Matt Jarvis miss out, whilst Arsenal's Theo Walcott is recalled.[LNB]Pearce's squad for the Under 21 finals was as expected when taking into account Wilshere and Carroll's absences.[LNB] Decisions: Stuart Pearce (left) discussed his options with Fabio Capello[LNB]There were four players with senior-level experience - Manchester City's Micah Richards, Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs, Manchester United's Danny Welbeck and Sunderland's Jordan Henderson.[LNB]Frank Fielding, Michael Mancienne, Chris Smalling and Kyle Walker have all been involved in the senior team set-up also.[LNB]England's campaign begins on June 12 against Spain.
