This is a Liverpool guilty pleasure that has been going on for a while and it looks like negotiations have reached a point where the player must decide to stay at Bayern Munich with an improved deal or move to Anfield and the Premier League according to The Mirror. The Bundesliga are not known for big-money wage-bills and the players head may be turned by the earnings of players on the other side of the fence.

The 22-year-old is an exceptionally gifted winger with great vision and clinical finishing ability. His nicknames range from “the Alpine Messi” to the rather amusing “the magic dwarf” due to his 5 ft 6” frame and similarities to the Argentinean.

Shaqiri joined Bayern Munich on a four year contract (June 2016) from FC Basel in 2012 for a fee reported to be 11.6million Euros.

Shaqiri was born in Yugoslavia of Albian Kosovar parents but emigrated a year after his birth to Switzerland and as a result has dual Swiss and Albanian nationality. The player has played at every international level for Switzerland and made his senior debut in 2010.

The winger has spent the majority of his senior career to date with the Swiss outfit FC Basel having joined as a youth in 2001 and graduating to the senior team in 2009 where he went on to make 92 appearances and scored 18 goals.

The respected Norwegian Tor-Kristian Karlsen tweeted that it’s between Liverpool and an improved contract at the Allianz Arena. It is also suggested by Fabrizio Romano that talks were ongoing and that Liverpool have met with the players brother.
